West Coast Rides You Should Know About

Riding season is in full swing and we’re pretty pumped about it. There are tons of great rides to take this summer and since we’ve already highlighted some of our favorite East Coast rides here, we thought it was time to give the West Coast a little love. Check out our top picks for best West Coast rides.

Pacific Coast Highway, California - We have all heard the hype about taking a Pacific Coast cruise, and we are here to tell you the hype is real. The terrain is unlike anything you’ve seen before with miles of coastline, tons of curves, and unreal views along the entire highway. No matter where you start or end your ride you’ll be in for a treat. If you ride the the length of Pacific Coast highway, you’ll see lighthouses, redwoods, mountains, lush valleys, and a variety of wildlife. The highway is a whopping 655 miles long, so whether you choose to ride for just a portion of the highway, or the entire length, there will be an ideal option for you.

Blue Mountain Scenic Byway, Oregon - Oregon is full of scenic motorcycle roads and the Blue Mountain Scenic Byway is one of the best. This 145 mile stretch of road travels through ranching communities, forests, and mountains - all which make for a beautiful ride. The byway is a paved, two-lane road crossing the Morrow and Umatilla counties in northeast Oregon. During the ride, you’ll also pass through the Umatilla National Forest, which offers a variety of scenery, historical sites, and ample wildlife. It’s important to note that the byway is not accessible year-round due to snowfall at the higher elevations. As for road quality, there are tons of twists and turns - get ready for a fun ride.

North Cascade Highway 20, Washington - This highway is often said to be one of the best rides and one of the most beautiful mountain highways in the state of Washington. The highway offers travelers incredible scenery and is the state’s longest highway at 436 miles. The speed limit is 60 mph, but there are numerous pull-offs and overlooks to take in the views. If you ride through the highway during summer months and pass through North Cascade National Park, you’ll see many waterfalls as snow melts off of the mountains. We strongly recommend pulling over to look at the turquoise waters of the Diablo Lake.

Angeles Crest Scenic Byway, California - Most people wouldn’t think of Los Angeles as having epic motorcycle riding, but we’re here to prove you wrong. Angeles Crest is just a short drive from Los Angeles and offers riders incredible views of the San Gabriel Mountains and the Pomona and San Gabriel valleys. Along the ride, you’ll have access to the Mt. Wilson observatory and - on a rare clear day - you might get to see awesome views of Los Angeles. The roads are wide and winding and will take you into a national forest with unreal views. Newcombs Ranch is a popular biker destination on the ride, so be sure to stop in.

In Case You Missed It: July Moto News

It’s hard to believe we’re not even halfway through July, but motorcycle news keeps pouring in - and we’ve got it all. Check out the latest motorcycle-related headlines you need to know about this month.

Yamaha Three-Wheeled Bike Coming to America - We covered the news of the new Yamaha NIKEN big reveal here, but the manufacturer has more news to share about the crazy looking bike. Yamaha has just confirmed the new NIKEN will be available in the U.S. this September - coming in at a price tag of $15,999. The NIKEN is a Leaning Multi-Wheel (LMW) motorcycle, meaning the bike has two front wheels and allows riders to lean deeper into curves for a more “sporty” ride. But slow your roll, you can’t get this bike at your average dealership. To buy one of these coveted bikes you’ll have to reserve one on the Yamaha website and they will begin distribution of the NIKEN on a first-come-first-serve basis. We can’t wait to see this baby on the road, considering we have never seen anything like it before. Read More.

Indian Motorcycle Considering Moving Production Overseas - While this story broke in late June, we still think you should know about Indian Motorcycle potentially following in Harley-Davidson’s footsteps by moving production overseas. Indian’s reason for the potential move was identical to Harley’s - the new tariffs on American-made motorcycles coming into the E.U. Although Indian is still toying with the idea, we are interested to see if any other manufacturers will decide to move their production overseas as well. Will this trend grow? Looks like we will find out soon. Read More
