Top 5 Tips When Transporting Your Bike

Shipping off to a new destination or transporting your bike for your next road trip? Here are a couple things you won’t want to forget to do before transporting your motorcycle.

Clean it
Happy shipping!
Make sure to thoroughly clean your motorcycle before shipping to reveal any chips, dings, scratches or other cosmetic damages.

Check for pre-existing damage
After cleaning your bike, check for any damage that’s already occurred in case you have to file an insurance claim at a later time. This will help avoid any disputes with your service provider.

Remove all loose items
Your service provider is not responsible for lost or stolen items during transport. Insurance typically will not cover these types of items either.

Make sure it's in good working condition
Your service provider may have to drive your bike into a motorcycle transport trailer. Fix all mechanical problems before the move and write down any special operating instructions.

Verify your insurance coverage
Your personal motorcycle insurance will not cover damage or loss during shipment. You can look to your shipping company to cover the minimum. Verify this by asking for a copy of their insurance certificate when they provide you with the quote for insurance.

Finally, you may be wondering if you need to drain the gas or remove the bike’s battery; the answer is yes, but only if you’re shipping it freight. Always double check with your service provider if you have additional questions.

This article provided by our partner, uShip. Visit their site to find out how much it costs to ship your motorcycle.

Discover the 10 Most Exciting Motorcycle Touring Destinations

RoadRUNNER Motorcycle Touring & Travel magazine is highlighting 10 of the best touring destinations around the world. The editors of North America’s premier touring resource have discovered some hidden gems after many years on the road and countless miles ridden. Once you’re ready to ride, search for tankbag maps and GPS files from any of RoadRUNNER’s 380 plus U.S. and international tours archived online.

1. Nevada SR 167 and the Valley of Fire

A string of Harley-Davidsons carve across pristine asphalt in the Valley of Fire.
Just a stone’s throw from Las Vegas, Nevada’s Valley of Fire State Park offers spectacular views of red sandstone monoliths that seem to burn in the light of the afternoon sun. State Route 167 twists and turns through the park and along the shores of Lake Mead before running into the Valley of Fire Highway.

2. Chapman’s Peak Drive – South Africa

A BMW twists along the stunning Atlantic Ocean coastline.
Just south of Cape Town Chapman’s Peak Drive is etched into the cliff face above Haut Bay. The “Chappies,” as locals know it, isn’t long at just over five and a half miles but it crams a healthy 114 curves into that short distance. And the view!

3. New York’s Catskill Mountains, SR 97

The Hawk’s Nest is a sport touring rider’s dream come true.
Far from the traffic and congestion of New York City, the Catskill Mountains are an intriguing escape for motorcyclists seeking mountain views and twisty roads. State Route 97 follows the course of the Delaware River and serves up some of the best riding on the East Coast.

4. Pikes Peak - Colorado

The Pikes Peak Highway twists back and fourth across the mountain’s face, rising higher with every turn.
This 14,115-foot mountain may be famous as the sight of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, but the sinuous, fully paved 19-mile path to the top isn’t just appealing to racers. The continuous stream of switchbacks and high-altitude views make for an adrenaline pumping experience for everyday riders too.

5. Washington and Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge

The Columbia River Highway was the first planned scenic byway in the U.S.
Slicing through the Cascade Mountains along the border between Oregon and Washington, the Columbia River Gorge is a testament to time and the power of the river. For riders it offers expansive views of the mountains and river around each bend (and there are quite a few).

6. The Rum Runner’s Legacy, the Moonshiner 28 - North Carolina

Mountain lakes, rivers, and waterfalls can be found in abundance along the 28’s wandering course.
Legend has it that rum runners would tear up and down 28 hauling their illegal concoctions while running from the revenuers, which is where this twisty mountain masterpiece gets its name. Today the 105-mile stretch of road in Western North Carolina is a visual and riding feast for motorcyclists.

7. Virginia’s Skyline Drive

Brilliant Blue Ridge Mountain scenery is Skyline Drive’s main draw.
At the northern end of the famous Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia’s Skyline Drive takes up where the BRP left off. The road winds for 105 beautiful miles through Shenandoah National Park with 75 scenic overlooks along the way. The ride is especially beautiful when the fall colors are at their peak.

8. U.S. Route 191 and the Coronado Scenic Byway

The stretch between Springerville and Morenci, AZ is one of this route’s many highlights.
Originating in Arizona and including the wonderfully curvy Coronado Trail Scenic Byway, U.S. Route 191 wanders north for over 1,600 miles to the Canadian border. Along the way the road traverses the wide-open landscapes of the American West with a stopover at Yellowstone National Park just to sweeten the deal.

9. Gotthard Pass – Switzerland

The pass has earned a reputation as one of the most spectacular roads on earth.
The pride of the Swiss Alps, Gotthard Pass crosses “Devil’s Bridge” before rising to 6,909 feet in a dizzying succession of switchbacks. At the top riders are greeted by unforgettable alpine views and a museum dedicated to the road’s construction. It's a special experience riding over Gotthard’s cobblestones.

10. The Sea to Sky Highway (and Duffey Lake Road) – British Columbia

Duffey Lake is just one of the multitude of scenic stops along Highway 99.
Highway 99 looks like any old highway as it leaves Vancouver, but it isn’t long before its character changes. Climbing high into the Coast Mountains, 99 becomes the Sea to Sky Highway showcasing the rustic beauty British Columbia is known for. It continues on as Duffey Lake Road with perilous curves carving higher and deeper into the mountains.

World Ride Day Set For Summer 2015

Just ride. It’s a simple idea that expresses the passion that unites motorcycle riders around the world, regardless of age, location, or brand. It’s also all anyone needs to do to join the thousands of Harley-Davidson motorcycle riders and Harley Owners Group members who are flexing their freedom and hitting the open road during the Harley-Davidson World Ride on June 27 and 28.
“One of the beautiful things about riding a motorcycle is how it lets you check out from the daily grind and experience the pure feelings of joy and freedom it brings,” said Ken Ostermann, Harley-Davidson general manager of Integrated Marketing Operations. “The Harley-Davidson World Ride is all about being on your bike, loving life and sharing that feeling with others.”
One World, Two Days, Millions of Miles
Launched in 2008 by the Harley Owners Group as Million Mile Monday, the annual riding event was expanded into the two-day Harley-Davidson World Ride in 2012 to give more riders worldwide an opportunity to participate. In 2014, participants logged more than 10 million miles on solo rides, in groups large and small, and through a variety of dealer-led events around the world, united by their shared passion for motorcycling. For 2015, the event retains its two-day format, but shifts to Saturday and Sunday to enable even more riders around the globe to participate.
“The thrilling feeling of freedom and independence experienced by riding a motorcycle can be life-changing. Participating in the World Ride is a perfect opportunity to share that experience with a non-rider, perhaps by inviting them along as a passenger to share the ride,” Ostermann said.
Whether it’s across town, cross-country, or anything in between, every mile counts and can be recorded by logging into Harley-Davidson’s online mileage accumulator at h-d.com/worldride, where a rolling odometer will record the collective distance traveled by all participants in the World Ride.
Ride participants can log their post-ride mileage directly onto the World Ride website from mobile devices and share their riding stories and photographs on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #HDworldride. Participants can also download a certificate of participation after logging their mileage on the World Ride website.

PWC Race Series Kicks Off Third Season

P1 AquaX USA, the organization behind the fastest growing PWC race series in the U.S., kicked off its 3rd season this past April in Daytona Beach, Fla., with 91 racers showing up to race. The series is designed to provide another platform for the PWC enthusiasts to enjoy their watercraft, and since the watercraft are only allowed minor handling modifications it is also affordable.
AquaX racers endure three grueling 30-minute races in various types of water conditions including surf, river and lake races. Courses are large enough to be safe but also challenging enough to attract racers from all over the world.  Even though over a third of the 91 racers at the first round in Daytona were new to racing, the series is competitive enough to pique the interest of professional racers such as SeaDoo BRP X-Team racers, Kawasaki Factory racer Craig Warner and the Yamaha Factory Team. The series is made up of three classes, each class has certain watercraft designated to it and is based on horsepower such as 300, 250 and 200 classes.
Chad Saxon of Florida is a first time racer and had this say about his experience: “My brother and I were out riding and had heard about this series from other riders. We decided to check it out. I entered the 200 class in Daytona and managed to pull off a fifth place in my race. I had a blast but my ski was underpowered, so I went out and bought a brand new Yamaha VXR to race the next round.  The event staff we great and the other racers were very helpful and friendly. My brother and I had a blast!”
Chris Saxon currently holds the points lead in the RIVA Racing Rookie Championship Cup for AquaX USA with David Gorie and Hector Toledo rounding out the top three.
Round 2 will be held on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Fla., June 6 and 7. The series is televised and can be viewed locally on Florida FOX SunSports, Florida FOX Sports and MAVTv, as well as on International networks such as SKY TV and FOX International.  The series is sponsored by Lycamobile, SeaDoo BRP, Yamaha Motors, Kawasaki Motors, Hydro-Turf, GoPro, Fly Racing, RIVA Racing, Australian Gold
AquaX USA races in conjunction with the P1 Panther powerboats making each event a full weekend of on water racing. P1 AquaX races are sanctioned but the IJSBA.  In addition, P1 announced that they will be promoting the IJSBA Closed Course National Championship round in Cocoa Beach Sept 19th and 20th2015.  For more information please visit P1aquaX.com and p1grandprix.com.

Kawasaki Introduces New 2016 Models

Kawasaki unveiled a range of new 2016 powersports vehicles Tuesday. The fresh lineup includes new Mules, Teryx models, a Z800 ABS motorcycle and a KX450F motocross bike.
Kawi Mule PROFX
Having received acclaim and awards following its launch last year, the powerful and dependable Kawasaki MULE PRO-FXT is now available as a single-row seating variant called the MULE PRO-FX for the 2016 model year, giving full-size side x side customers another purchase choice. The new single-row PRO-FX gains a larger steel cargo bed, giving it the largest in its class and 20% bigger than any previous MULE, without sacrificing any of the cab’s comfort, but increasing its hauling capacity.
Developed alongside the PRO-FXT, the new MULE PRO-FX shares the same engine and chassis platform, meaning it is still the fastest and most powerful MULE ever built, with independent suspension, powerful disc brakes, effective engine braking and optional speed-sensitive power steering.
The cargo bed has a massive 1000-lb. carrying capacity and is able to accommodate a full-size wooden pallet with the tailgate closed — something the competition can’t do!
The PRO-FX is also able to tow up to 2000 lbs. when the optional hitch is fitted, so the MULE PRO-FX will be perfectly suited to the job site, hobby farm or for a weekend adventure in the back woods. With this much capability, the MULE PRO-FX will allow you to clear your “To-Do List,” leaving you plenty of downtime once the work is done, and is always available for fun on the weekends.

Kawi Mule 4010
The need for a reliable, multi-task vehicle has never been greater, and the four-wheel drive MULE 4010 models as well as the rear-wheel drive MULE 4000 is built to tackle any job, anywhere. When large amounts of supplies, gravel or grain need to be moved, these MULE side x sides have the strength to haul the load while also carrying two passengers. But when the necessity for carrying cargo shifts to ferrying people, the rugged MULE 4010 Trans4x4 can quickly transform into a versatile four-seater, thanks to its Trans Cab design.
The ability to change configuration, from one-row of seating to two rows without using additional tools or removing parts, is what makes the Trans4x4 one of the most versatile vehicles in its class. Yet the rugged MULE4010 4×4 and the MULE 4000 RWD will still prove invaluable on the worksite, farm or fishing expedition.
The 2016 Kawasaki MULE 4010 Trans4x4 side x side was born with an unstoppable work ethic, an industrial design and an ability to have fun. It is driven by a powerful 617cc V-twin engine that is liquid-cooled and metered by a Digital Fuel Injection (DFI) system that ensures the correct amount of fuel is always available to meet the driver’s demands.
Its versatile Trans Cab system means it can carry two people and have a large loading area in the cargo bed, capable of carrying up to 800 lbs. Yet when the job demands more people, the Trans Cab can be transformed quickly into the four-passenger mode, gaining an e bench seat behind the driver and shortening the rugged steel cargo bed, which can still carry up to 400 lbs.
The Trans Cab system requires no tools, and no parts are removed. The operation simply requires latches to be released on the rear divider panel, which is then secured in the rear mounting position. The left and right bed extensions are then folded to the rear of the bed before the seat is raised and latched into place. It’s a simple operation that can be quickly executed by one or two people. It means the MULE 4010 Trans4x4 side x side can go from work to play or transporter to hauler in no time, and still retain its 1,200-lb towing capacity at all times.
Additional features include a ROPS (Roll Over Protection System) structure, independent front suspension and a durable De Dion rear suspension system to ensure greater comfort and superior traction, as well as Electric Power Steering (EPS) to reduce effort at low speeds as well as reduce fatigue by damping any steering kickback on uneven surfaces. All MULE 4000 series models are fitted with sealed drum brakes at each corner to provide ample braking power and to prevent dirt getting into the system.
The MULE 4010 Trans4x4 side x side is available in a number of colors, including Timberline Green and Dark Royal Red. A popular option among owners who also use their MULE for hunting or fishing is the Realtree Xtra Green Camo finish, which allows the vehicle to blend into its surroundings.
Additionally, there is a 2016 Kawasaki MULE 4010 Trans4x4 SE model. This “Special Edition” is available in Super Black and is equipped with LED headlights plus a composite sun top.
MSRP: MULE 4000, $8,999; MULE 4010 4X4 SE, $10,549, MULE 4010 4X4, $10,199; MULE 4010 TRANS4X4 SE, $11,999; MULE 4010 TRANS4X4, $11,199 ($11,699 Camo model)
