A first look at the hybrid motorcycle

eCycleWhile hybrid cars have become popular with drivers seeking lower fuel costs and cleaner air, is anyone working on a hybrid motorcycle?

According to Motorcyclistonline.com, eCycle and Machineart have developed a hybrid motorcycle prototype that gives motorcycle riders a glimpse of what a hybrid motorcycle might be. The image above is just one of three concepts.

Like a hybrid car, the cycle uses a gas engine for high speed travel, then switches over to a SolidSlot™ brushless motor/generator for slower speeds.

The eCycle is meant to be a prototype for future development of hybrid motorcycles, so don't expect to ride one out of the dealership now. But the day for the hybrid motorcycle is closer that ever.
