I wouldn't ride any kind of motorcycle or scooter with a seat belt on. If you are hit by someone and the bike goes down, you are dragged along with it and you don't have the option of jumping off. I once stopped at an uphill "Y" in the road, while I tried to figure out which fork to take. The 600 pound sport-touring bike started sliding backwards through the leaves, and was about to cross paths with a truck coming up behind me. If I hadn't jumped off, I could have been killed. A seat belt may have dragged me to my death.

I like the concept, esp. the attempts to improve safety. I am skeptical that seatbelts, however, achieve that. I suppose the safety engineers know something that I don't, but being strapped to the bike sounds scary to me. I'd rather be ejected from the bike; I use an airbag jacket that inflates upon ejection. But what do I know?

I think the title in this piece is deceptive. This vehicle does NOT combine the best elements of the 2 catgories. Instead it focuse on the WORST ones. First, it's dead slow, housing a Transalp engine. Secondly, it has no storage space. Third, it grounds the floorboards so easily, it's insance. So, it's not nearly as practical as a scooter, and not at all sporty. Plus, it puts the rider on a bad stance, killing his back after a while.

I have the same opinion as Mr. Bowen. By the time the bike gets into production many compromises have to be made. What you end up with is a $20,000 electric motorcycle that gets maybe 100 miles per battery charge. Not a deal by any standard.

I agree with above poster. Unless it's made affordable to the average rider, these are nothing but pipe-dreams. Great design and I applaud their in-sight but for the asking price I could put a healthy down payment on a larger house.

Why do I have this opinion? Simple! So many small entrepreneurs are coming up with super cool electric fuel alternatives, only problem as per usual… Capitalization. I don’t see George Soros volunteering any of his multi-billions to jump in the nationwide dealership programs, of any alternate/alternative fuel vehicle/motorcycle period.

Because of undercapitalization, production cost will have to remain very high, most assuredly keeping all out of the average Jane/Joe’s garage! So, people, have fun reading about these super bitchen breakthroughs that seemingly come out by the week. For all I view it as… is well, a readership grabber.
