Today is the 19th annual worldwide Ride to Work Day, an event created by a non-profit group encouraging motorcycle riders to ride to work.

The purpose of Ride to Work Day is to demonstrate how motorcycles make parking easier and help traffic flow better. Studies have shown that across equal distances, commuting motorcyclists reach their destinations in less time than those using automobiles, and that motorcycles and scooters consume less resources per mile, and that they take up less space on roads.

Ducati Launches The Pikes Peak Race Blog Featuring The Multistrada 1200

Ducati North America has just unveiled the Pikes Peak Race Blog, an internet resource where fans can follow the Pikes Peak Ducati Team from the building of the bikes through the Race to the Clouds on June 27th.

The Pikes Peak Race Blog can be found at www.pikespeak.ducatiusa.com; where the team’s progress can be followed all the way through race day on June 27th.

According to Ducati, the the blog documents the adventures of the Faulkner-Livingston Ducati race building and racing the new Ducati Multistrada 1200 in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

As the most prestigious Hill Climb in America, Pikes Peak is the race in which both automobile and motorcycle racers alike dream of taking top time and mountain glory.

The Ducati Multistrada 1200 is a type of motorcycle the mountain has never seen before- one which through a combination of ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, ABS and electronic suspension can adapt itself to a rider’s demands on the fly. This negates the need for a compromise in setup between the course’s paved and dirt sections, and enables the Multistrada to achieve optimum performance the whole way up the mountain.

KTM North America Joins Demo Ride Lineup at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days

The American Motorcyclist Association reports that KTM North America will be on location with its streetbike demo fleet at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days this July 9-11 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

The KTM lineup at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days will include the full 690 line of bikes -- the 690 Enduro, the 690 SMC and the 690 Duke. Also available will be the 950 Super Enduro, the 990 Adventure, the 990 SMT, the 990 SMR, the 990 Super Duke and the 1190 RC8 superbike.

"We're excited about our full lineup, but two of the bikes that are getting a lot of attention this year are the new 990 SMT, which stands for "supermoto travel," and the 990 SMR," said KTM Ride Orange Manager Mark Hyde. "Those two models really fill a big gap from our 990 Adventure up to the RC8, and we're hearing a lot of positive feedback from our demo riders. With KTM North America being headquartered in Ohio, it only makes sense for us to be on hand at this major motorcycling destination in our own backyard. Since we've been participating in street demos, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days has been one of our best locations every year."
