Devoted Harley-Davidson Fans Travel to Milwaukee To Buy a New Motorcycle

How devoted are some Harley-Davidson fans to the Harley brand of motorcycles? Try so devoted they will fly 2000 miles to buy a motorcycle in Harley's hometown of Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel reports on one Harley buyer who flew all the way from Texas to purchase his bike from Milwaukee Harley-Davidson, with the dealership picking up his airfare, a stay at The Iron Horse Hotel, and a trip to The Harley-Davidson Museum.

Why such a long trip just to buy a motorcycle? Many Harley buyers feel their bike is not just any motorcycle, it is a lifelong dream and the Milwaukee is part of the Harley mystique. Buying a bike from Harley's hometown is part of the experience of ownership.

Motorcycles Find No Parking In Many Baltimore Parking Garages

Do parking garages ban motorcycles in your town? It appears that many garages in the Baltimore area do and bikers feel its unfair.

The Baltimore Sun reports on restrictions that motorcycle riders face when looking for a place to park.

According to the story, the garages have concerns over the steep ramps and lifting gates inside garages that could be a hazard to motorcycles. Bikers are frustrated by the restrictions that cut into their ability to ride to work.

Ducati Multistrada 1200 Arrives At Dealerships Nationwide

Ducati North America has announced that dealerships across the country will take delivery of the Multistrada 1200 S this May 14-15.

According to Ducati, the Multistrada 1200 S will make its debut in a showroom premiere at participating dealerships across the U.S.

The Multistrada 1200 S combines innovative design and advanced technology allowing the rider to experience a new dimension of motorcycling. The Multistrada 1200 can be ridden in Urban, Sport, Touring and Enduro modes while balancing impressive levels of performance, comfort, and enjoyment for both the rider and passenger.

Amongst the Multistrada 1200 S’ technological advancements are the New Ducati-Ohlins electronic suspension, traction control, ABS and ride-by-wire-throttle control.

Will New Motorcycles Be Required To Have Anti-Lock Brakes?


Can anti-lock brakes save the lives of more motorcycle riders?

According to the Washington Post, an insurance industry group is asking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to make anti-lock brakes on motorcycles a federal mandate.

The story reports that The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says accident reports show new motorbikes with anti-lock brakes save lives and should be required.

While the new mandate would make bikes safer, they would push the price of a motorcycle up by 1000 dollars.

Cycle Trader Announces Launch of New Mobile Site


Cycle Trader has released a mobile site that puts more than 140,000 new and used motorcycles at shoppers’ fingertips. The new Cycle Trader mobile site can be located at m.cycletrader.com.


The new Cycle Trader mobile site allows shoppers to quickly find nearby motorcycles for sale and motorcycle dealerships. The search tool allows users to search for motorcycles by type, manufacturer, year, price and keyword. Users can also search for motorcycle dealers and have the option to include a manufacturer in their search which will only return dealers who carry motorcycles made by that manufacturer. All searches are based on the user’s zip code.


“We are so excited to provide consumers with an additional way to search the largest database of motorcycles for sale. Cycle Trader’s iPhone application already received over 25,500 downloads, a product we just launched a few months ago, but with our new mobile site everyone will have over 140,000 RVs at their fingertips,” stated Tim Custer, General Manager of Cycle Trader.


Once a motorcycle search is completed on the Cycle Trader mobile site users can then view a detailed description, photos of the motorcycle for sale, and email the seller or call immediately from their phone. When searching for dealerships users can choose to sort results by distance or by dealership name. The Cycle Trader mobile site also offers dealership contact options and links to view dealerships’ websites. A map function allows users to locate motorcycles for sale and motorcycle dealerships on Google maps with access to driving directions.

Harley-Davidson Museum To Host Special Exhbit on Evel Knievel

The Harley-Davidson Museum is marking the 35th anniversary of Evel Knievel's famous Wembley Stadium jump in London on May 26, 1975, the Harley-Davidson Museum will host True Evel: The Amazing Story of Evel Knievel, this summer celebrating the iconic stuntman's life and legend.
