About.com's List Of The 10 Most Controversial Motorcycles of 2009

About.com reports on the 10 Most Controversial Bikes of 2009.

2009 was the year when Honda ventured entered the world of choppers and Buell Motorcycles left the business. Electric motorcycles went from a futuristic concept on the drawing board to having their own races.

Among the bikes featured in the About.com story are is Buell 1125R, the winner of the AMA Sportbike championship (not everyone was happy about that).

Ducati Hypermotard 796 Hits Dealerships Nationwide This Weekend

Ducati North America has announced that the highly-anticipated Hypermotard 796’s are in transit to dealerships across the country, just in time for the holiday season.

According to Ducati, beginning this weekend, the Hypermotard 796 will be available to the public at all authorized Ducati dealerships. Developed using weight saving technologies from Ducati’s racing machines, the Hypermotard 796 includes a light action slipper-type clutch and top shelf components establishing it as the ‘must-have’ bike for the 2010 riding season.



Perfect for dicing through the daily commute or attacking the open roads, the 796 flawlessly balances Ducati’s unrivaled twin-cylinder power, 81hp and sportbike heredity with the lightweight and minimalist Supermotard concept.Available color selections include Ducati red, matte black and white.

Cycle Trader iPhone Application Puts 140,000 Motorcycles Within Easy Reach


Cycle Trader has made searching for new and used motorcycles, ATVs, personal watercraft, and snowmobiles a whole lot easier. Powersports enthusiasts can now shop CycleTrader.com’s inventory of more than 140,000 vehicles from their iPhone by using the Cycle Trader iPhone application.

The free application can be downloaded from the lifestyle section of the iTunes Store by searching the key phrase “Cycle Trader.” A demonstration video is available on the Cycle Trader Insider blog [link].


“We’re ecstatic to offer our tech-savvy customers easy access to CycleTrader.com from anywhere at anytime with technology that suits their on-the-go lifestyle,” said Gwyn price, vice president of Cycle Trader.


The Cycle Trader application is a GPS-sensitive search and retrieval tool to help shoppers quickly and conveniently find CycleTrader.com powersports listings and access the 1,200 members of the Cycle Trader Dealer Network. Users may search the database by zip code or current location and use enhanced search parameters such as category and type, new or used condition, price range, and model year.


Search results show multiple vehicle and dealer locations on enhanced Google maps along with driving directions to each. Individual vehicle listings provide detailed descriptions, seller contact information, and multiple photos and YouTube video when available. Users may then view the vehicle location on a map, e-mail or call the seller, e-mail the listing to a friend, or add the vehicle to a Wish List. The application also saves recent searches and vehicles viewed for easy retrieval at a later time.

Ducati Multistrada 1200 Makes First U.S. Appearance

Ducati North America has announced the debut its latest model, the Multistrada 1200, in North America at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, Calif. December 4-6.

Shown for the first time just weeks ago at the EICMA Milan Motorcycle Show, the Multistrada 1200 was named “Most Beautiful Bike in Show” and hailed as a true ‘game-changing’ motorcycle. During the Long Beach show, motorcycle enthusiasts will see why the Multistrada 1200 is considered a marvel and four bikes in one.

Because of its unprecedented technology and class-leading features this motorcycle is able to unleash four unique riding modes including Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro, enabling the rider to enjoy a truly customizable riding experience. The power and torque delivery, suspension settings and traction control can be modified while riding this motorcycle to adapt to the rider’s needs, and not the other way around.

“We are very excited to launch the technologically-advanced Multistrada to North America at the world’s largest motorcycle show series,” said CEO Michael Lock. “The Multistrada 1200 is a unique model for us since it really attracts all types of riders.
