Mission Motors Sets New Electric Motorcycle Land Speed Record

The Los Angeles Times reports that Mission Motors has set a new land-speed record for an electric motorcycle. The Mission Motors blog also features images and video.

The record was set on Sept. 1 during the annual BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials at Utah's Bonneville Speedway. The production prototype reached a top speed of 161 mph.

Mission Motors recently competed in the first electric superbike race on the Isle of Man, where it reached reaching a top speed of 100.6 mph on the 37.7-mile course.

Upgrades to the software and motor controller allowed engineers to extract 50% more peak power from the motor.
